News from the Trustees for March 2010

The Trustees held their first meeting of the new church year following the Annual Meeting on February 7. At that time, Lori welcomed both Tom Hazen and Cindy Morrell back to the Board. Susan Lovelace will be welcomed at the next meeting. Allan Patriquin visited with the group to discuss the work of the Constitution Task Force and proposed changes to the Trustees section. Constructive suggestions were made that Allan will report to the Task Force at its next meeting. Cindy Jubinville updated the group on the budget, saying that the January report makes the least sense to worry about because it is so early. Current income stands at about 11% and expenses so far have only been 7.7% - 1/12 of the budgeted income and expenses really isn’t much in the grand scheme of things. There is still an issue about closing the budget gap and there are some interesting possibilities. Tom Hazen was nominated as chair, and Al Duffy agreed to serve as co-chair. Cindy Morrell agreed to serve as secretary. Other Trustee “jobs” were also filled. We agreed to add a new electric line for the Reception Room closet to allow installation of the freezer for the Food for Friends Program which would be out of the way. There is an oil tank at the east end of the Lancaster building which has to come out. A new circulating pump has been installed in that building which seems to be helping and we are still working on the heating issues in the sanctuary. If you have any concerns, please feel free to speak with any of the Trustees – Karen Anderson, Al Duffy, Betty Innocent, Bruce Skipton, Mike Thornton, Richard Constant, Dick Towne, Tom Hazen, Susan Lovelace, or Cindy Morrell.   Cindy Morrell, Secretary

News from the Trustees for February 2010

The Trustees began 2010 with gratitude and astonishment that the church ended the year more than $5,000 “in the black,” when we had budgeted for a $20,000 deficit. Everyone has both tightened their belts in these difficult economic times, and opened their wallets at the same time, keeping our church healthy and safe. Congratulations and thank you!

Most of the January meeting focused on the proposed budget for 2010. The Trustees also thanked Patricia Keyes and Beth Elam for their past service, both will be leaving the Trustees as replacements are elected at the Annual Meeting on February 7th.
