Project Hope: Words of Hope Photographs
Hope has played a vital role in my life, especially during the past 5 years – and currently, when I have struggled both with severe depression and daily migraines. In late 2006 I decided to participate in a medical experiment to treat my depression which involved brain surgery. That’s when an idea began to form, grew, evolved, and continues to mature. I call it Project Hope. The overall objective of Project Hope is to provide a source of hope to those who struggle with physical, emotional, and/or spiritual pain or chronic illness.
I envision a number of Project Hope initiatives, but the first combines my passion for photography, awe at the beauty of God’s Creation, and words I have read or heard that have given my much needed hope. I call this initiative “Words of Hope Photographs.” I create a “Hope Photo” by: (1) finding/taking especially beautiful photographs of God’s Creation; (2) searching and reading “Words of Hope” in the Bible, other sacred texts, and various inspirational and/or devotional books; (3) matching a photograph with specific Words of Hope; (4) making the Words of Hope part of the photo, and finally (5) distributing the Hope Photos widely -- such as through the internet so that many others who are searching for Hope might find it!
I have included below a collection of Hope Photos. I hope to expand the collection by including Words of Hope from other Faith traditions – such as Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism. I plan to add new Hope Photos as I create them. If you have any comments, feel free to email me at rmhhowe@hotmail.com.
Faith, Hope, Love, and Joy Forever!
